What is it!
As part of a research study that aims to improve the general well being of individuals, Growing edge is offering free therapy/treatment to deserving individuals in exchange for anonymously using the data collected from the sessions while maintaining complete confidentiality of the clients identity.
Who will be providing therapy?
Therapy will be offered by Mental Health Professional Mauna Gauhar, counselor/trauma therapist and consultant clinical psychologist. The study will be carried out in Islamabad.
The duration of the study will be 3-4months with follow-up after 3 months. The participants may have to visit our clinic in Islamabad once or twice/week to get treatment.
Privacy and Confidentiality
We at Growing Edge maintain the highest standards of ethics, privacy and confidentiality. For the purpose of this research, the identity of clients will not be disclosed, and confidentiality of the client’s material will be strictly maintained. Clients who do not meet the criteria of the study can still seek treatment with us on regular conditions.
Eligibility Criteria
- English or Urdu speaking,
- Age 18-60 years,
- Ability to understand terms of the study and willingness to participate,
- Give informed consent,
- currently not taking any psychological or psychiatric treatment, no substance dependence (except tobacco smoking), not pregnant, no history of the conditions such as brain injury/ organicity, neurological illnesses, dissociative disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia/ psychotic disorders spectrum, bipolar disorder, substance dependence, other disorders poorly suited to study treatments (e.g., personality disorders), serious suicidal ideation, any psychiatric or medical condition that can impede participation in the study.
Screening:
Before treatment, screening will be done using standardized assessment tools (psychological tests). Eligible participants will receive quality treatment maintained at highest ethical standards pertaining to safety and confidentiality of the participants.
Recommendation:
People who do not want to use medication as a treatment and do not linger on treatment for a long duration, are highly encouraged to participate.
